Pastor David's sermon for May 20th:

The Church - Past and Present

Acts 1:8, 12-14

Come...just as you are to worship!

Join us for Pentecost Sunday tomorrow, May 20th
The Birthday of the Church!

Join us each Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. We are currently studying:
"Goliath Must Fall"...Winning the Battle Against Your Giants, by Louis Giglio.  How do we overcome constant battles in our lives? Whether it's addiction, anxiety, rejection, or fear, God doesn't want us dealing with these "giants" that demoralize us and diminish His glory. Giglio shows us that when we choose to dwell on the greatness of Christ instead, our problems will fall to His power!

We long to know and love Jesus as a community of believers and see Him move in our church, our community and our world. We seek to know His Presence not only in our corporate gatherings but in our daily lives as followers of Jesus.

We love ALL the
children at
Lake Rayburn UMC!

Bishop Jones of the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church invites you to pray this prayer daily during the week of February 25-March 3, but it is prayer we can pray everyday...please join us as we pray for a "Prayer for Unity in the Body of Christ."

Prayer:  A Prayer for Unity in the Body of Christ

Holy God, we thank You for Your tender mercies and loving-kindness.  Thank You for calling the Body of Christ around the world to pray and unite.  Thank You for increasing Your presence, power, anointing and abundance throughout the world.  You are great and do wondrous things.  You alone are God.

Let Your Kingdom come, and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven for the Body of Christ.  Lord, as your people, we humble ourselves, pray and seek Your face today.  We believe that as we turn from our wicked ways, You will hear from heaven, forgive our sins and heal our landscape.  We will be humble, gentle and patient with each other; making allowance for each other’s faults in love.  We will be kind to one another, tenderhearted and forgiving, even as You, Lord, have forgiven us in Christ.

Holy Spirit, help us to live out the Word we just prayed to You.  Remove the obstacles that hinder the formation of peaceful and loving relationships between our churches.

Forgiving Lord, forgive us, the Body of Christ, for our many sins.  Forgive our churches for being at times self-centered and self-absorbed.  Forgive us when we have had a form of Godliness, but denied Your power.  Forgive us for not always being Kingdom- minded.  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us as the Body of Christ not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Lord, You are Holy.  Just and true are Your ways.  Who can be compared to You?  Who is Your equal?  Yours is the Kingdom, power and glory forever.   In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

A note from the Pastor...

Our vision is to love, witness and serve. The more we stand side by side, loving and encouraging each other and praying for one another, the more God is honored and the church finds itself fulfilling the vision.  Ministry grows out of who we are.  We are very honored to be serving at Lake Rayburn United Methodist Church and are looking forward to the future!

Yours in Christ,

Pastor David and Carolyn Hicks
